Sanders named after C. W. Sanders, a railroad office engineer; was at one time a bustling stop along Route 66. Today little remains in Sanders, but it’s worth a visit to see the Old Claymine Road Bridge.
Currently mounds of sand keep cars from crossing the bridge, which is also known as the Old Route 66 Bridge, but it is open to foot traffic, and is a great way to take in the vistas of the Sanders’ area.
